New York – Exemption for Military Flags

SALT Report 1779 – The New York Senate passed a bill that amends the tax law regarding sales of military flags.  Effective December 1, 2012, the purchase of military service flags, prisoner of war flags, and blue star banners will be exempt from New York sales tax. The exemption applies to sales made on or after that date and includes those made under a prior contract.

Currently, only the United States flag and the New York state flag are exempt from sales and use tax.
