Connecticut – Registration Waiver Ends

SALT Report 1898 – The Connecticut Department of Revenue announced that they have ended the registration waiver for out-of-state businesses who were assisting residents following Hurricane Sandy.  As previously reported in SALT Report 1863, certain businesses were granted a waiver under Executive Order 22 which allowed contractors and line technicians licensed in other states to work in Connecticut without first registering for corporate business tax, personal income tax, and sales and use tax purposes.

The registration waiver period ends on November 14, 2012, and these contractors and technicians will now be required to register with the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services.  Businesses and independent contractors can register electronically through the Department’s Taxpayer Service Center. Registration can also be completed in person at certain walk-in locations.
