Oklahoma – Spouses of Deceased Disabled Veterans Eligible for Sales Tax Exemption

SALT Report 2033 – Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin recently signed Senate Bill 46 which extends the sales tax exemption for 100% disabled veterans to the surviving spouse of a deceased qualified veteran.

Prior to the passage of the bill, only “persons who have been certified as receiving compensation at the 100% rate where disability is permanent and where it is service connected as certified by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs are eligible for the exemption.” However, effective immediately, the sales tax exemption for 100% disabled veterans includes sales to the surviving spouse of a deceased qualified veteran if the surviving spouse does not remarry.

This sales tax exemption is limited to $1000 per year.
