SALT Report 2350 – The California State Board of Equalization is offering a free tax seminar for those who manage or who would like to start a nonprofit or exempt organization in the state. The tax seminar is designed to help individuals understand the state’s sales and use tax laws as they apply to nonprofits.
The seminar will be hosted by BOE Vice Chair Michelle Steel who will provide an overview of the state’s compliance rules for exempt organizations, employment taxes and nonprofits, property tax exemptions, and regulation of charities. Presentations will also be given by representatives from the California Attorney General’s office, Employment Development Department, Internal Revenue Service, Franchise Tax Board, and the BOE’s Sales and Use Tax Department and Property Tax Department.
