SALT Report 2358 – Maine Revenue Services announced that the Office of the State Treasurer recently awarded the State’s primary banking services contract to US Bank. As a result, all ACH credit taxpayers and third-party providers must transition their electronic funds transfer payment remittances to US Bank by April 30, 2013.
Taxpayers and third-party providers must change the banking information related to their ACH credit payments to the US Bank routing and account numbers provided on the Department’s ACH Credit Method – Bank Verification website to ensure that their ACH credit payments are posted accurately and timely to the MRS tax system. Failure to do so may result in a penalty of 5% of the tax due or $5,000, whichever is less.
