Mississippi – Broadband Equipment Exemptions Extended

SALT Report 2307 – The Mississippi State Legislature recently passed a Bill that extends the sales and use tax and the ad valorem tax exemptions available for sales of certain broadband equipment. Specifically, the Bill provides that:

The sales and use tax exemption for sales of equipment to telecommunications enterprises that will be used in the deployment of broadband technologies has been extended until July 1, 2020.

The property tax exemption for equipment that will be used in the deployment of broadband technologies by a telecommunications enterprise has been extended until July 1, 2020.
Prior to the passage of the Bill, both exemptions were scheduled to expire on July 1, 2013.
