Tennessee – Reduced Sales Tax for Food and Food Ingredients

SALT Report 2385 – The Tennessee General Assembly has passed legislation that reduces the sales and use tax rate on food and food ingredients for human consumption from 5.25% to 5%. House Bill 193 was passed on April 15, 2013 and has been sent to the Governor for his signature.

The lower tax rate will take effect on July 1, 2013.
