Utah – Municipal Energy Sales and Use Tax Rate Increase

SALT Report 2482 – The Utah State Tax Commission announced that the city of Pleasant Grove, county/city code 25-088, will increase its municipal energy tax rate from 5.051% to 6% on July 1, 2013. On that date, sellers must collect and remit the new 6% rate on all taxable sales of energy in Pleasant Grove.

The rate increase is pursuant to Utah Code §10-1-304 which allows cities to impose a municipal energy sales and use tax of up to 6% of the delivered value on the sale or use of taxable energy.
