Washington – Local Sales and Use Tax Rate Changes

SALT Report 2585 – The Washington Department of Revenue announced that effective July 1 the local sales and use tax rates in the cities of Aberdeen and Stanwood will change. The rate changes are as follows:

  • Aberdeen – The sales and use tax rate will increase 0.13% bringing the new sales tax rate in the city to 8.53%. Revenue from the increased tax rate will be used to improve the city’s transportation services.
  • Stanwood – The sales and use tax rate will increase of 0.2% bringing the new sales tax rate in the city to 8.8%. Revenue from the increased tax rate will be used to improve the city’s transportation services.

Additionally, the Department warns that due to budget cuts, they will no longer mail out paper notices regarding sales and use tax rate changes. Therefore, businesses are urged to sign up to receive these notices by email.
