SALT Report 2883 – The Idaho State Tax Commission has extended the filing and payment deadlines for taxpayers affected by the wildfires in Blaine, Boise, Camas, Custer, Elmore, and Oneida Counties. Taxpayers in these disaster areas will have until September 30, 2013, to file their tax returns and submit any payments due for the period of August 12 through September 30.
The relief is available to:
- All tax types administered by the Department,
- All individuals and businesses located in the disaster areas, or
- Anyone whose tax records are located there
To qualify for the extension, taxpayers should write “2013 IDAHO FIRES” in red ink at the top of their tax return. If a taxpayer files their returns and receive a notice charging penalties or interest for filing returns or paying taxes late, they should return the notice and include the statement “2013 IDAHO FIRES” or call the Commission.
For taxpayers who do not have Internet access, they can call the Tax Commission at (208) 334-7660 or (800) 972-7660 to request that a paper return be mailed to them.
