SALT Report 2970 – The California State Board of Equalization is offering a free tax seminar for nonprofit and exempt organizations, their staff, and individuals who are interested in forming a nonprofit. The seminar will address state and federal tax laws, filing and registration requirements, sales and use tax laws, compliance, employment taxes, and state regulations specific to the nonprofit industry.

During the seminar, the BOE will offer guidance for new permit holders, as well providing important information regarding audits and compliance, fund raising activities, maintaining proper business records, and taxable and exempt purchases.
BOE member George Runner, BOE Vice Chair Michelle Steel, and San Bernardino County Supervisors Janice Rutherford and Josie Gonzales will host the event and will be available to answer specific taxpayer questions, if time permits.
