North Carolina – Decreased Motor Fuel and Alternative Fuel Tax Rate

SALT Report 2991 – The North Carolina Department of Revenue issued a memorandum regarding the motor fuels and alternative fuels tax rates.  The memo amends a previously issued memorandum issued on June 15, 2013.

The amendments reflect that for the period of October 1, 2013 through December 31, 2013, the rate will decrease from $37.6 cents per gallon to $37.5 cents per gallon. Previously, the rate for the same period was set at $37.6 cents per gallon.  However, due to the passage of House Bill 998, Laws 2013, the motor fuels tax rate is capped at $37.5 cents.
