California – Bill Requiring Feasibility Study on the Development of a Consolidated Webpage for BOE, FTB, and EDD Vetoed

SALT Report 3122 – Governor Brown vetoed SB 582 which would have required a feasibility study on the development of a consolidated website for the State Board of Equalization (BOE), Franchise Tax Board (FTB) and the Employment Development Department (EDD) in order to improve cost-effective services to taxpayers.

The Governor says, just do it.  The Governor stated in his veto message that the problem of virtual consolidation of these organizations needed to be addressed immediately rather than studied.   In his veto message the Governor instructed the Secretary of Government Operations Agency to “determine if taxpayer service can be improved in a cost effective manner with a single state Webpage for all state taxes.  If it can, my administration will work with the author to seek implementing legislation should it be needed.”
