California – BOE Extends Relief to Taxpayers Affected by Clover Fire

SALT Report 3050 – The California State Board of Equalization is offering relief to business owners affected by the Clover Fire in Shasta County. If you lost your home, business, or tax records in the wildfire you may request an extension of time to file your returns as well as relief from penalties and interest.

The offer of relief applies to anyone who files or pays the following taxes and fees:

  • Sales and use taxes,
  • Fire prevention fee,
  • Alcoholic beverage tax,
  • Cigarettes and tobacco products excise taxes,
  • Energy resources surcharge,
  • Emergency telephone users surcharge,
  • Natural gas surcharge,
  • Timber yield tax,
  • Fuel taxes,
  • Underground storage tank maintenance fee,
  • Oil spill response and prevention fees,
  • Lumber assessment,
  • Integrated waste management fee,
  • Occupational lead poisoning prevention fee,
  • Electronic waste recycling fee,
  • California tire fee, and
  • Hazardous substances fees

Taxpayers can file their request for relief online; however, those without Internet access should call the BOE customer service center direct at 1-800-400-7115.
