Colorado – Rulemaking Sessions to Address the Taxation of Marijuana

SALT Report 3106 – The Colorado Department of Revenue issued a notice regarding the implementation of Amendment 64, which legalized the personal use of marijuana, and requires the Department of Revenue to adopt rules regarding its taxation. The notice provides information for those who wish to take part in the upcoming rulemaking process.

In addition, the Department is organizing a working group to discuss the tax issues that must be addressed in the new rules.  Members of the public and local authorities are being encouraged to apply to be a part of this group.  Anyone who would like to submit an application or to request additional information should email Kevin Bronski at kevin.bronski@state.co.us by October 17th, 2013.

Once all applications have been considered, the working group plans to meet as follows:

October 23, 2013 from 1PM to 5PM at the Old Supreme Court Chamber, Colorado State Capital, 200 E. Colfax Ave., Denver, CO 80203

November 8, 2013 from 1PM to 5PM at the Old Supreme Court Chamber, Colorado State Capital, 200 E. Colfax Ave., Denver, CO 80203

The second meeting will only be held if it is deemed necessary. The Division will decide at the conclusion of the working group’s first meeting, if the second meeting is necessary

Lastly, all working group meetings will be open to the public and comments or testimonies will be permitted. However, the Department is encouraging interested parties to submit written comments regarding these rulemaking issues by November 29th, 2013, if they wish to have them specifically addressed at the meetings.
