Mississippi – Filing Due Date Extended Until October 31

SALT Report 3090 – The Mississippi Department of Revenue announced that they are extending the filing due date for all sales and use tax filers from October 21, 2013, to October 31, 2013. The extension will provide taxpayers with additional time to set up their accounts and make payments using the new online filing system accessed through the Taxpayer Access Point (TAP).  Taxpayers who timely file their returns will still be eligible for the discount, and the Department will not assess penalties or interest on any returns and payments received by October 31, 2013.

However, because of the extension, the Department advises that there may be a delay of up to two days in the withdrawal of a sales and use tax return payment from a taxpayer’s bank account.
