New York – New Licenses Available for Cider Manufacturers

SALT Report 3101 – New York Governor Andrew Cuomo recently signed legislation that creates a new license for “farm cideries.” The license is similar to those licenses currently available to farm wineries, breweries, and distilleries and would provide the same exclusion from the sales tax information return filing requirements.

The license will be available to manufacturers of hard cider that is made exclusively from apples grown in New York State so long as they produce no more than 150,000 gallons annually.  Once licensed, farm cideries will be authorized to sell and offer tastes of any cider, beer, wine, or spirit made from New York products.
