Texas – Fireworks Tax And Cinco de Mayo

SALT Report 3341 – Texas reminds retailers of the 2% fireworks tax (in addition to sales and use tax) imposed during the 4th of July, New Years and Cinco de Mayo holidays.   Texas allows the sale of fireworks during specific periods leading up to these celebrations statewide for 4th of July and New Years and within 100 miles of the Texas/Mexico border for May 5th.
