Florida—Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday ( May 31, 2014 to June 8, 2014)

SALT Report 3372 – The Florida Department of Revenue (DOR) issued a reminder regarding the state’s Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday that begins 12:01 a.m. on May 31, 2014 and ends at 11:59 p.m. on June 8, 2014.  Qualifying items related to hurricane preparedness are not subject to sales tax during the Sales Tax Holiday period.   Certain items may not qualify based on the selling price.

Qualifying items purchased for $20 or less includes:

•             Any portable self-powered light source

•             Battery-powered flashlights

•             Battery-powered lanterns

•             Gas-powered lanterns (including propane, kerosene, lamp oil, or similar fuel)

•             Tiki-type torches

•             Candles
