Arizona – Plan For Consolidated Sales Tax Reporting May Be Delayed

SALT Report 3505 – Arizona’s TPT Simplification plan may be delayed due to concerns about reporting requirements and compliance within the new system.  The TPT Simplification plan, designed to consolidate state, county and municipal transaction privilege tax to one return and administration point, was originally set to begin on January 1, 2015.

It was reported that hundreds of contractors requested a special session to delay the plan, citing confusion about reporting requirements as the basis for this request.  Governor Jan Brewer’s spokesman responded to this request stating that a special session is not needed and while he acknowledged that problems can arise with the start of any reform effort he also stated “these can be handled in the regular session,”.
