Multi-State – Spending Bill Includes Ban On Taxing Internet Access

SALT Report 3535 – A $1.1 trillion dollar spending bill extends the ban on taxing internet access through October 1, 2015.  This will be the fourth renewal to ban internet access taxes.  Senate Finance Committee chairman Ron Wyden, who originally wrote the Internet Tax Freedom Act (ITFA) in 1998 with Congressman Christopher Cox, has also proposed the Internet Tax Freedom Forever Act to permanently prevent taxation of internet access.  It is expected that Congress will vote on the spending bill this week to prevent a government shutdown.
