Ohio – New Sales Tax Holiday Moves Forward

SALT Report 3537 – The Ohio Senate approved legislation that would allow for a sales tax free weekend on the first weekend of August 2015.  The first week of August was selected to benefit families who are back-to-school shopping.  The exemption applies to school supplies costing up to $20 and clothes up to $75.  The House version of the bill limits the sales tax holiday only to August 7, 8 and 9 of 2015, with further approval required for it’s continuation.  The bill is now headed to the desk of Governor John Kasich.
