Connecticut – Proposes Sales and Use Tax Exemption for Diapers (HB 6595)

Salt Report 3598 – The Connecticut Department of Revenue is considering making baby diapers exempt from sales and use tax.  Adult diapers are already classified as exempt in the state.  Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont exempt baby diapers for a variety of reasons (medical supplies, clothing, hygiene).   On March 16, 2015 the bill was referred to Office of Legislative Research and Office of Fiscal Analysis for hearing on March 23, 2015 at 10:00 AM.
