Louisiana – No Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday

SALT Report 3814 – The annual sales tax exemption known as Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday is not happening this year. That means residents will not get a discount on generators, batteries and canned food ahead of the 2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season that starts June 1.”

“For 2017 and 2018, lawmakers passed a partial hurricane preparedness sales tax holidays which would decrease the sales taxes to 3 percent instead of 5 percent.

Beginning July 1, 2018, specified hurricane preparedness items will again be exempted entirely from the state sales tax.
