Colorado – Sales & Use Tax Simplification Task Force Releases 2018 Draft Legislation

The legislative Sales & Use Tax Simplification Task Force which has been meeting this summer has released draft legislation for the 2018 Legislative Session.  The bill includes but is not limited to the following provisions:

No later than June 30, 2018, the Department of Revenue shall issue a Request for Information (RFI) in accordance with the Procurement Code, Articles 101-112 of Title 24, and within DOR’s existing resources, for an electronic sales and use tax simplification system that the State or any local government that levies a sales or use tax, including home rule municipalities and counties could use that would provide for:

  • Accurate address location information to be used by a retailer;
  • A single application process for tax licenses;
  • A uniform remittance form;
  • An accurate taxability matrix of each item subject to sales or use tax.

The Task Force will be discussing this draft during its next meeting on November 1st.  Any changes to this draft bill will be made at that meeting or during the 2018 legislative session.  Please contact Loren Furman at or at 303-866-9642 if you should have any questions.
