New York – Cuomo Looking To Speed Up Online Sales Tax Proposal

ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — Governor Andrew Cuomo is looking to speed up his online sales tax proposal.

The new push would allow the state to collect tax on all online sales starting in June, instead of September.

Right now, only large online retailers like Amazon or eBay are forced to collect sales tax.

Smaller companies can ship a product to another state and avoid charging sales tax.

Opponents of the bill argue it could hurt local small businesses. Supporters say it will help generate money for the state.
