ARKANSAS – House Committee Kills Bill To Collect Tax For Internet Sales

Legislation that would require out-of-state online sellers to collect sales and use taxes from in-state purchasers and change the state’s corporate income tax code failed to clear the House Revenue and Taxation Committee on Thursday. In a voice vote with no audible affirmative votes, the 20-member tax committee declined to approve a motion by Rep. Dan Douglas, R-Bentonville, to recommend House approval of Senate Bill 576 by Sen. Bart Hester, R-Cave Springs. Douglas is the House sponsor of the bill.
