Missouri – City Hoping For Internet Sales Tax


St. Joseph continues to see dwindling sales tax revenue increases, but the State Legislature could help provide an increase in those revenues, which city leaders are hoping for.

Sales tax makes up 27 percent of the city’s annual income, and it typically only increases by half of a percent to 1 percent.

This year, sales tax did not increase and is expected to “barely meet projections” according to the city’s proposed budget for the fiscal year beginning in July.
