State Rep. Jillian Gilchrest, D-West Hartford, has reintroduced a proposal to impose a significant tax on ammunition sales and use the money to fund gun violence prevention and reduction efforts.
Gilchrest’s bill, published Monday, calls for a 35% excise tax. A similar proposal last year to tax ammunition at a rate of 50% was never acted on by legislature’s finance committee.
