Certain Washington counties and cities will impose local sales and use tax rate changes effective July 1, 2020.
Local Rate Changes
San Juan County increases its local rate by 0.2%. The rate in Friday Harbor will be 8.5%, and the rate in unincorporated areas will be 8.3%. The retail sale of motor vehicles and the lease of motor vehicles for up to the first thirty-six months is subject to different codes and rates.
The City of Anacortes will increase its rate by 0.1%, for a total rate of 8.8%. The retail sale of motor vehicles and the lease of motor vehicles for up to the first thirty-six months is subject to a rate of 8.5%.
Municipal Annexations
Beginning July 1, 2020, the following Washington cities have imposed annexations that may impact businesses’ sales and use tax rates: Ritzville, Kennewick, Forks, Battle Ground, Kalama, Connell, Mattawa, Moses Lake, Ellensburg, Omak, Fife (two annexations), Milton, Tacoma, Friday Harbor, Sedro-Woolley, and Arlington (two annexations).
